HEY MOM! Look at ME!

That familiar, jubilant shout of a small somebody making sure that showing off is not in vain. As kids, we never tired of yelling it, and as parents we never tired of hearing it.  Spring is like that around here – nothing shows off quite like spring time, and our spring this year is especially boisterous.

Like some dare-devil 4-year-old about to jump into the deep end of a swimming pool, the Brandywine Crab Apple trees are a riot of hot pink blossoms competing with electric green grass for your attention.  Early morning sunshine can seem to paint the scene with glitter.

Sweet 16 apple trees have turned their hopeful branches into a soft pale cloud bank.  Lay on the prickly grass under the canopy.  With Colorado’s bright blue May sky playing hide-and-seek behind all those petals, its like the quiet chaos of a Sunday Morning dash to church.

You can find all these beauties showing off in the most delightful way in the new orchard that’s been planted near the bridge by Harmony’s 16th hole.

While they sure grab your attention, the new apple trees have some company from the dozens and dozens of new pine trees, service berries, and large willows gently showing up throughout the neighborhood.  Slowly and surely Harmony has sprouted a forest.

Go see for yourself – if you’re particularly quiet, you can hear it; Hey MOM!  Look at Me.
