Harmony’s Clubhouse – Ready for Construction

After years of steady membership growth, Harmony Club is approaching the originally-projected 360-member benchmark that supports the construction of its clubhouse building.  In a fairly counter-intuitive move, Harmony did not start out the now 12-year-old golf course development with a club house as is the more traditional, “build it and they will come,” model.  Rather, in step with developer Byron Collins’ characteristic and methodical “slow can be faster” mantra, Harmony is finally enjoying critical mass both in terms of membership counts and residential units, that will underpin a vibrant, relevant, and wholly unique built environment for members and guest to experience.

Originally conceived in the early 2000’s as a “campus” in the very heart of the Harmony community, a multi-building execution addressed the lifestyle vision carved out by the development team.  More traditional “country club” clubhouse experiences fail to deal with varied and sometimes competing uses; court-sport recreating, work-out training, swimming, dining, golfing and just simple hanging out.  These diverse activities attract different types of members and residents as well as a broad demographic sweep. The team looked at this as a fantastic problem to solve and the campus concept was born: different “doors” for different desires – each activity was best serviced with a distinct location.  In 2015 Harmony was pleased to open a high-end boutique work out facility, resort-style pool featuring a 45-foot slide and pool-side food and beverage service, and casual pavilion used for day-to-day seasonal dining and special events.  The inclusion of tennis and courts for the still emerging game of pickle ball rounded out the destination-driven offering.  Let’s just say the party was just getting started.

The clubhouse building is the crowning piece of the $15,000,000 campus site.  At approximately 20,000 square feet the building was conceived over the course of a decade to offer private and public gathering spaces that are the hallmark of luxury destination resorts.  Notably included on the main floor are:  the Grand Room, a comfortable “living room” to enjoy views, conversation, maybe a drink and a small plate too.  The Grill Room and Bar afford a Colorado casual comfort food environment, while the Private VIP Gathering Room and patio offer a completely bespoke option tailored to an individual member’s imagination.  Solely dedicated to the golfer’s needs and expectations the Golf Club entrance has been designed to fully welcome a golfer to the Harmony’s experience.  Each space was planned to create a relevant and timeless appeal; from intriguing and practical layout to comfortable, inviting furnishings, the main level of the clubhouse will be unique to Northern Colorado.   More golf-centric, the lower level houses men’s and women’s locker rooms, cart storage, golf club storage and service area, staff conference room and professional staffing spaces.  These facility’s proximity to the golf course makes daily operation and flow practical and smart.

Finally, recognizing the subtle and complicated dance between landscape and architecture that evokes an emotional experience, several outdoor patios, “rooms” and gathering spots are carefully woven into the landscape design as the building and site become a singular experience. One you might not want to leave.

Internationally recognized and award-winning architectural firm DTJ Design will guide the construction process with local contractor Beacon Construction starting Spring of this year.  The project is expected to be complete and open for business Summer 2020.
